Day 13

Can you think of one trait that is distinct to your family? Maybe your family is all over 6 feet tall. Perhaps there’s a unique physical feature like bright red hair, a bulbous nose, or square chin that your family could easily pick out of a crowd.

In today’s video, we read about the one trait that distinguishes who is a follower of Jesus: loving each other.

As you read and pray through John 13:31-35, think about how that trait, loving others, is being shown or forgotten in your life.

Loved reading about loving others as Jesus loves. I know it is difficult at times. I try not to hold anything
against anyone for any reason.

Watching Jesus and His ability to forgive those who would wrong Him (Judas). Those would deny Him (Peter). As a pastor who has been wrongly treated (real or imagined) it is hard to forgive those people. This lesson is awesome and a reminder of who we are in Christ. Practice what I preach.

I loved being able to just ask God for His level of love, it’s more than I could ever ask for or dream of.

Love one another. The only thing to get me through mission work and working in the hard area of addiction and mental health. It is impossible for me not to love an addict – initially – it is always good to find you really can love someone when they turn on you, as eyes remain fixed on Jesus. I am very grateful for the focus on the word in scripture prayer contemplation and journalling during this course on the book of John. This helps me know my thoughts and imagination are being held by the Holy Spirit during
these exercises.

I need to be reminded to love others as Jesus loves me. Sometimes I don’t always know what that looks like. I have to trust that God will guide. me.

I have expressed my feelings on this and will continue to do so, but the background music is so very distracting. It is too loud and almost covers up what he is trying to say at times. It takes the focus off what he is saying.
